Describe Tom's dream. (MEG 102) (SONGS OF INNOCENCE AND SONGS OF EXPERIENCE)

Tom's dream is described in William Blake's poem "The Chimney Sweeper" from the Songs of Innocence. In the dream, Tom sees several chimney sweepers who have died and gone to heaven. The sweepers are all happy and wearing clean clothes. An angel then arrives with a key and unlocks a black box, revealing another angel inside who is holding a bright, shining palm. The first angel puts the palm into the black box, and suddenly all the sweepers' hair turns white like snow, and they become angels themselves.

Tom then wakes up and goes back to his work, hoping that his life will also one day be transformed like the sweepers in his dream. The dream symbolizes the hope and faith of the innocent, and the possibility of redemption and transformation even for those who suffer and are oppressed.
